06 Oct Simon Perkin: Competing Strong at 60
Simon Perkin marked an incredible milestone in Dresden, competing in his third World Transplant Games after receiving two life-saving bone marrow transplants in 2012.
Now 60 years old, Simon took on a full schedule of events, proudly representing his age group (60–69) across multiple disciplines:
🏃 5k Road Race
🚶 5k Walk
⛳ Golf – Individual & Pairs
🎾 Tennis Singles
For Simon, every race, swing, and serve carried a deeper meaning, a celebration of resilience, gratitude, and the second chance at life his donor made possible. His story is proof that life after transplant doesn’t just continue, it thrives.
💚 “Each Games is another opportunity to honour my donor and show what’s possible after transplant. Turning 60 on the track in Dresden was a gift in itself.”
Simon’s journey is a reminder to us all: second chances are worth celebrating at every stage of life.
