A Dream in Motion: Jorge Luis Clavel’s Journey After Transplant
Fourteen years ago, Jorge Luis Clavel received a kidney transplant that gave him a second chance at life. For many, such a moment marks the beginning of recovery. For Jorge, it marked the beginning of purpose.
Since his transplant, Jorge has made sport a central part of his life — not only as a way to stay healthy, but as a way to honour the gift he received and to advocate for organ donation. “I do sports whenever I can,” he says, “and I compete in all kinds of events.” For Jorge, movement is not optional; it is a celebration of life.
In the past year alone, Jorge participated in more than ten races, demonstrating remarkable consistency, discipline, and commitment. Beyond running, he also competes in karate at the national level, participating in five tournaments in the highest-ranking category. His dedication to training and competition reflects both physical strength and deep gratitude for the opportunity to live fully after transplant.
Jorge is not driven by medals alone. He is driven by meaning. Through every competition, he actively promotes and advocates for organ donation, sharing his story to raise awareness and encourage others to register as donors. “Organ donation is absolutely necessary for survival,” he explains. “Without it, many of us simply wouldn’t be here.”
Looking ahead, Jorge carries a clear and powerful dream: to compete at a World Championship. “I would love to be part of a World Championship,” he says. “It’s a dream I still have, and I hope to achieve it soon.” His ambition is not rooted in ego, but in gratitude — a desire to honour the life he was given by continuing to push his limits and inspire others.
“I love running,” Jorge adds. “My dream is to be a World Champion.”
Jorge also speaks with heartfelt appreciation for the person who made his journey possible — his donor. He sends his regards to fellow Argentines and to his “donor angel,” whose gift allows him to keep dreaming, competing, and living with purpose.
Jorge Luis Clavel’s story is a powerful reminder that transplantation is not an end point. It is a beginning. Through sport, advocacy, and unwavering determination, Jorge shows the world that life after transplant is not defined by limitation — but by possibility.
