💬 A Message from Our President: “These Games prove what a simple ‘yes’ to donation can achieve.”

Being there for all of you at my first World Transplant Games as President was an absolute privilege.

I chose not to compete so I could be at the start and finish of as many events as possible, cheering on our transplant warriors and soaking up the spirit that makes these Games so unique. Not great for the throat, but amazing for the soul.

🌍 A Week to Remember

What a week it was. We reunited, bonded, and celebrated life — flying the flag for organ donation with every stride, stroke, and throw. We brought the Games to Germany to spark conversation and make an impact — and we did. I hope we will continue to do so, as donor rates remain very low in Germany, and one of the key reasons the WTG exists is to show the world the incredible results that can be achieved by a simple “yes.”

💚 Gratitude Beyond Words

We cannot thank Transdia and their LOC enough. The Games were simply superb, as were the volunteers, families, and supporters who roared you on. To our donor families and living donors — without you there would be no transplant warriors. And to every recipient who trained, showed up, and gave their best: thank you for embodying the spirit of these Games.

🚀 Looking Ahead

I feel assured that, moving forward, more recipients will get active and join us, prompting the public to consider organ and stem cell donation, and encouraging policymakers to improve donation systems that give more people a second chance at life.

This is, and always will be, a team effort. And I feel confident that we can count on each other to keep building a stronger future together.

🤝 A Personal Note

Please stay tuned and in touch with us. And don’t forget — my name is Liz. I may hold the title of President, but I am simply a representative of our community. So when we meet, call me Liz. Bring your ideas and your dreams, and together we’ll continue to build the WTGF.

With gratitude,
Liz Schick
