How do we register?

A link will be provided to all Team Managers for our online registration system. The link will also be on the winter games website www.wtgf.org/wintergames.

Do I need the package with or without a lift pass included?

If you intend to participate in any Alpine events (i.e. Ski or snowboard races) you require a package WITH a lift pass included. Alternatively, if you are a supporter who wants to ski / snowboard socially at Mount Norquay – then you require a package with a Lift Pass included. If you only plan on participating in Nordic events (i.e. Curling, Biathlon, Snowshoe or Cross Country), and do not plan on skiing at Mount Norquay socially – you do not require a package with a lift pass included.

Can I purchase a package without a Lift Pass and just buy a lift pass for one day?

Yes, individual day lift passes can be purchased at $75 per person per day. This can be selected on the registration.

Do I need to be an experienced Skier / Snowboarder to participate in these Games?

No there are events which are open and possible for those who do not have skiing experience. These include curling and snowshoeing.

Can I take skiing or snowboarding lessons whilst at the games?

Yes, lessons are available at Mt Norquay. You may click the link below for further information and bookings click here.

Do I need to bring my own Ski equipment?

Yes, however if you do not have nor wish to bring your own ski or snowboard equipment you can rent it on arrival in Banff. Ultimate Sports in Banff is offering a 25% discount on all ski rental equipment. You may book your ski rentals online at https://ultimatebanff.com/rentals/reservations/ and put in “Notes” you are participating in the World Transplant Winter Games 2020.   The discount will be applied at the store when you show your lanyard.  AND…………Ultimate Sports offers free delivery to your hotel. Note: Rifles are provided for the biathlon and the Brooms and stones for the curling.

I see accommodation is not included, how I go about booking this?

You may book your own accommodation using any of the normal internet-based accommodation booking sites, or you can take advantage of the rates secured and rooms being held by Banff Lodging Company. See the section included in this document on accommodation.

Other than accommodation, what other costs are there for me?

You will need to book your arrival and departure transfers from the airport (if arriving by flight) and pay for your own meals during your stay. A welcome drink and light snacks are provided at the Opening Ceremony and dinner at the Gala Dinner. If you arrive prior to Sunday 23 Feb and depart after Friday 28 Feb – you will need to buy a Banff National Park pass for these additional days.

What if I want my whole team to stay together at one hotel / lodge?

If you want to book 5 or more rooms together, you can email events@bestofbanff.com who will assist you with a group booking.

Will there be any events open to Donors to participate in?

Donor Families and Living donors are invited to participate in 3 select events – Giant Ski Slalom, Snowshoe and the Cross Country 5km. Competition is one open age category.

Do I need to complete medical forms?

All athletes, Nicholas Cup children as well as donors who are participating in official sporting events will be required to complete the online medical forms. A link to the forms will be provided on our website and on the registration system.

What currency are we working in?

The registration prices are in UNITED STATES DOLLARS (USD), however when booking the additional elements online such as accommodation & transfers, these will be quoted in CANADIAN DOLLARS (the exchange is currently around CAD 1 = USD 0,76 (Note – this is the exchange rate on 11 Sep 2019 and will fluctuate. You should always check the internet for the latest exchange rate).

Is transport included?

Your arrival and departure transfers from the AIRPORT to BANFF are not included. Please book these using the details provided in the Transport section. Once you are in BANFF your transfers from your hotel to the sports venues will be included. You will be given access to the local busses which travel frequently to and from all sports venues.
