TIME AND RESOURCE AVAILABILITY<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"c2041b252d7207e16\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"toggle_c2041b252d7207e16\"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Exercise and getting fit does not have to be expensive and does not require joining an exercise facility.\u00a0 The time and place that is most convenient to you for exercise will result in successful participation.\u00a0 Independent exercise at home is ideal for some but may require significant internal motivation and support from others to stay committed.\u00a0 Many people prefer to join a gym where they have a financial obligation as well as the benefit of social interaction and support at the gym.\u00a0 However, others who are just starting out or who have never exercised may be intimidated by a gym setting.\u00a0 Carefully consider what is <em>best for YOU<\/em> and what setting will encourage you to participate regularly.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default panel-5e91cfb150b9d1b46 fusion-toggle-has-divider\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\" id=\"toggle_5e91cfb150b9d1b46\"><a aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"5e91cfb150b9d1b46\" role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-2268-1\" data-target=\"#5e91cfb150b9d1b46\" href=\"#5e91cfb150b9d1b46\"><span class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box active-icon awb-icon-minus\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><i class=\"fa-fusion-box inactive-icon awb-icon-plus\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">C. SUPPORT &amp; ENCOURAGEMENT<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"5e91cfb150b9d1b46\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"toggle_5e91cfb150b9d1b46\"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We all need support when adopting an exercise program.\u00a0 You should develop a schedule for how you will incorporate your exercise into your regular routine.\u00a0 The following can be used for motivation and encouragement and may help you to stick with your program.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Enlist family or friends (or a dog) to exercise with.<\/li>\n<li>Ask a friend or family member to check in on your exercise regularly (i.e. weekly) so you are accountable to someone.<\/li>\n<li>Buy an activity monitor or fitness tracker (i.e. Fitbit\u00ae, pedometer) to help monitor your exercise and keep track of your progress.<\/li>\n<li>Sign up with a personal trainer who can get you started, then maybe touch base with that person regularly to assess your program, get feedback, encouragement and recommendations on how to progress.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After a while, you may not need as much encouragement, because you will have created a routine and if you have to skip an exercise session, your body will miss it and let you know!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-panel panel-default panel-4ff90acc5bad4c252 fusion-toggle-has-divider\"><div class=\"panel-heading\"><h4 class=\"panel-title toggle\" id=\"toggle_4ff90acc5bad4c252\"><a aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"4ff90acc5bad4c252\" role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordion-2268-1\" data-target=\"#4ff90acc5bad4c252\" href=\"#4ff90acc5bad4c252\"><span class=\"fusion-toggle-icon-wrapper\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><i class=\"fa-fusion-box active-icon awb-icon-minus\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><i class=\"fa-fusion-box inactive-icon awb-icon-plus\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"fusion-toggle-heading\">D. GENERAL TIPS to keep in mind as you get going<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div><div id=\"4ff90acc5bad4c252\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse \" aria-labelledby=\"toggle_4ff90acc5bad4c252\"><div class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Be realistic in your goals<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Listen to your body: We all have good and bad days. If your exercise session on a given day does not feel comfortable, decrease the duration and\/or intensity or take the day off and try again the next day. Adjust your sessions according to your feeling and needs.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Start SLOWLY!<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Progress GRADUALLY: This will assure adequate adaptation to increasing levels of exercise. Problems with exercise typically result when people do too much too soon, or progress their exercise too quickly, not allowing their muscles, heart and circulatory systems to adequately adapt to the exercise.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">You should NOT feel pain. You may feel discomfort or soreness in muscles that have not been used recently, but that should not prevent you from exercising the next day.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Exercise should enhance your energy, not cause fatigue.
