HOW DO I CONNECT MY DEVICE

Find your device from the selection of options on this page and follow the directions to connect your device to your MoveSpring account

HOW DOES SYNCHING WORK

To sync steps data into your MoveSpring account you will need to open the MoveSpring app on your phone or go to the MoveSpring website and click the green Sync button at the top right. MoveSpring cannot sync your steps data if you do not open the MoveSpring app or website.

I DON’T HAVE A DEVICE – CAN I STILL ENTER

No Device? No problem! If you use a pedometer, or you don’t have a device, or your current wearable fitness tracker does not integrate with MoveSpring – you can manually add your steps to get moving with the Billion Steps Challenge.

Log in or sign up to MoveSpring via the Challenge Link

  • To select manual entry go to Settings in MoveSpring (click your profile and then select Settings)
  • Click the device field, and select manual entry from listed devices (If you already selected ‘manual entry’ on sign up – then skip this step)
  • Add your steps daily via the web or mobile app
HOW DO I ENTER MY STEPS MANUALLY

From the dashboard, select the edit pencil icon next to ‘Today’s Activity’

  • Manually add your steps, distance and active minutes for today, then click ‘Save’
  • Click the edit pencil icon for a given day and enter your step, distance and activity data
  • Click ‘Save’
  • Repeat this step for all days where you are entering activity

IMPORTANT TO NOTE

  • When using manual entry, please make sure you enter totals regularly and accurately.
  • We recommend entering totals once a day to maintain the most up to date stats in the challenge.
  • When using manual entry you can enter 5 days of data (the current day and the previous 4).
  • You must enter each days data individually. Do not add in sums of data over a period of time for one day as this will throw off the overall challenge stats.
  • Grace period rules always apply. Once a WTGF weekly mini challenge or fun activity date has lapsed, a 1 day grace period is allowed to manually add your remaining steps.
  • Likewise, once the Billion Steps Challenge has closed on the 28th November 2021 – a 3 day grace period is allowed to manually add your remaining steps before totals are finalised.

CAN I BE IN TWO TEAMS IN THE CHALLENGE

The MoveSpring platform does not allow for participants to be in two teams at the same time. This would affect the steps data and final results as the participant would be entering double totals for one days stepping or activities.

CONVERTING AND ADDING NON-STEPPING ACTIVITIES TO STEPS

All activities count! You can convert your non stepping physical activities like swimming, yoga, cycling or even gardening into steps.

  • Use the Activity to Step convertor chart (link down below) to calculate your steps. Simply multiply the number of minutes you participated in an activity by the number of steps indicated in the chart. From there you can manually add these into MoveSpring!
  • If you already have a fitness tracking device connected to MoveSpring, which is automatically syncing your daily steps – you can only add your additional activity converted steps the following day.
  • Therefore, you will be manually adding your ‘activity converted steps’ to the steps already synced from your device.

Example: Adding 1 hour of yoga to your step total

  • Let’s say you use a Fitbit to sync to MoveSpring throughout the day, and today you completed 1 hour of yoga that you want to count toward your step total.
  • You wait until the following day to add your converted steps so you can get credit for all of your steps from your Fitbit as well.
  • Using this conversion chart, you calculate your converted yoga steps and then add your totals together as shown below:

    • Your Fitbit steps from yesterday = 7,000 steps
    • 🧘Your converted steps from 1 hour of yoga = 2,700 steps (42 steps/minute x 60 minutes)
    • 👟 Your total steps for yesterday = 9,700 steps

  • You’ll have access to update your totals up to 5 days back, so be sure to add your converted activity within the 5 day span.
