2017 Billion Steps Challenge

LET’S GET ACTIVE – LET’S GET MOVING – LET’S GET FIT FOR LIFE

One united goal… to get active and make your steps count for organ donation and transplantation

In 2017, the World Transplant Games Federation held the first Fit for Life! Billion Steps Challenge, proudly supported by Astellas Pharma Inc.

The challenge ran over 90 days from the 18th September – 17th December 2017 and was designed to bring the worldwide transplant community together in unison to do something for themselves – to improve their health and fitness and make healthy living their new ‘normal’.

Knowing the importance of an active community around recipients, the challenge was also open to the entire transplant community, including living donors, donor families, medical professionals, carers, family and friends.

The call to action was sent out across the globe to the World Transplant Games Federation community and friends and the response exceeded all expectations. 1570 participants joined into 241 teams, representing 33 countries from around the world.

A massive 810,850,047 steps were collectively achieved, demonstrating to the world that transplant recipients are serious about their health.
